The Department for Transport have issued a new Strategic Framework for Road Safety

posted 23 May 2011, 13:10 by Eli Kling
Released on 11th May it sets out the Government's new approach in it's efforts to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on Britain's roads. It includes proposals for fixed penalty notices for careless driving along with increased fines. However, the framework is lukewarm in other areas such as lower speeds, but new guidance on 20mph limits is promised. With police forces facing huge cuts, the new policies are unlikely to have a substantial impact on driver behaviour unless more traffic police appear on the roads. Full details of the new framework can be found on Department for Transport website www.dft.gov.uk.
