NEW GOVERNMENT MONEY FOR CYCLING

posted 26 Apr 2015, 13:08 by Eli Kling
In November the Deputy Prime Minister announced £214 million of new money for cycling, £114 million for already nominated Cycling Ambition Cities and £100 million over 3 years to improve the condition for cyclists and walkers travelling alongside or crossing Britain's most important and busiest roads These roads are defined by the Department for Transport (DfT) as the Strategic Road Network (SRN), and include motorways and major A class trunk roads.
Looking at The SRN map on the DfT website no roads in this immediate area fall into this category. It is therefore unlikely that we will benefit from this maintenance money, it is nonetheless encouraging that the government is committing more money to cycling and walking.
