Amersham Bike Fest and Electric Bikes

The Amersham Bike Fest last Sunday appeared to be a resounding success judging by the number of bikes being ridden or locked to street furniture. All types of cyclist appeared to be catered for with stalls selling new bikes, second hand classic bikes and parts. CTC, Sustrans and Tour of Britain were there, and free bike checks were offered by Cycle-Tech. During the day serious cyclists had the opportunity to take part in rides into the Chilterns.

One stand, Velospeed, was attracting a fair amount of attention with a range of electric bikes. There were at least a dozen different designs and interested visitors were encouraged to try any one of them. Many people appeared to be taking up this offer. One design was of particular interest in that it looked exactly like a high end hybrid bike but with a battery pack behind the seat tube. Anybody thinking of going electric should look up this local company.

The Bike Fest was part of a street festival that included stalls selling vintage clothes, antiques, bric-a-brac, in fact almost anything. With a huge range of stalls selling food and music laid on, everybody appeared to be enjoying the event and the sunshine. Surely the Bike Fest will become an annual event.
