Local places to go cycling for fun
Wendover Woods has a family cycle trail (more suitable for older children, we think, as there are a number of steep hills). The cafe now has new bike racks so you can cycle there too.
It is now possible to download the Chiltern Heritage Trail maps direct rather than have to go to the local council website and then not find the maps:
www.chiltern.gov.uk/downloads/HeritageGreenRouteMap_Milton.pdf www.chiltern.gov.uk/downloads/HeritageYellowRouteMap_Harding.pdf www.chiltern.gov.uk/downloads/HeritageRedRouteMap_Hampden.pdf There are lots of bridleways in the local area. For copies of local maps, visit Wendover Bookshop.
If you are using bridleways and permitted routes or cycle paths, remember to use the relevant cycling codes:
Cycle path (permitted pavement) cycling - coming soon

DEALING WITH POTHOLES AND ROAD DEFECTS
In Buckinghamshire: Bucks.CC have recently introduced a new interactive mapping system using satellite images that now allows users to place a marker exactly at the point of the pothole or road defect. A text based version is available for people who would prefer not to use the map. To find the map log on to www.buckscc.gov.uk then select Highways on call in the left hand column. Alternatively call 0845 2302882 or email hoc@buckscc.gov.uk In Hertfordshire: Highways on 01438 737320 or 01923 671320 or www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults. In Bedfordshire: Highways Help Desk on 01234 228661 or email highways@beds.gov.uk. Reporting Via CTC Scheme An online tool for reporting defects has been introduced by the CTC. Using the system you can mark the location of the defect on a map and explain it in detail. Once completed, the relevant authority will be automatically notified and they, in turn, have a duty to take action. To use this system go to www.fillthathole.org.uk |
